At the Interstate Animal Clinic, we believe that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Remember that for every calendar year, your pet ages 6 - 8 years. This is why we recommend bringing your pet in for a comprehensive wellness exam every 6 months - that's like you going in for a checkup every 3 - 4 years.

Prevention also means vaccination boosters.

In addition to standard feline vaccines, our office carries a full line of Modified Live Feline Vaccines. While they are more expensive, Modified Live Vaccines produce a stronger quicker protection response and they are much safer for cats and kittens because they are less likely to cause vaccine reactions that can result in feline vaccine tumors (fibrosarcomas).

Because Chlamydiosis is a disease that can be transmitted from cats and kittens to adults and children, despite its additional cost from the manufacturer, at the Interstate Animal Clinic we include it in all of our feline wellness vaccines free of charge!

Keeping your furry family on heartworm prevention year round is imperative in Arkansas. We carry a wide variety of heartworm preventative as well as flea control options for cats.

Since cats spend time in the litterbox ... then walk all over our household surfaces including counters and tables, this can result in exposure to intestinal parasites for people and other pets. At the Interstate Animal Clinic, we recommend an extensive fecal exam annually to monitor for exposure and infection. Our standard fecal exam includes a direct saline smear for protozoal parasites, a concentration and a centrifuged flotation for intestinal worms.

Our Premium Wellness Package can be modified by our doctors to meet your pet's individual needs based on age, exposure history and lifestyle health risks.

Choose Lab Tests :

Feline Leukemia/Feline Aids Test     -   $59

Kittens can get Feline Leukemia from their mothers before they are born. Testing befor you take your new kitten home for everyone to get emotionally attatched may help prevent heartache down the road. It is particularly important to test new kittens BEFORE taking them home to a household where cats live that you are already attached to. Though it is a good test, it cannot identify the virus if it is hiding latent in the bone marrow.

Fecal Exam     -   $31

Comprehensive saline smear for protozoal parasites combined with a sedimentation and centrifuged floatation concentration exam for intestinal parasite eggs. Should be done at least once annually on all pets.

Microchip      -   $50

We strongly recommend microchiping your pet as it is the best tool for getting your pet home if it is ever lost. Microchips cannot be lost like collars or tags. Using a handheld scanner, chips can be read and identified by shelter or veterinary personnel to retrieve an individualized number which can be registered and traced back to you. We do offer a discount for doing microchips while patients are under anesthesia so while it is best to get your pet chipped before you take them home, waiting till they get spayed or neutered will save a few dollars.
